Masters in Architecture in Landscape (M.ARCH in Landscape)

PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

The Three Year [Part Time] Masters in Landscape Architecture is tailor made to suit the requirements of the working professional. The Learning Outcomes and Skill sets acquired are built up along the semesters. In Semester 1 most of the Sciences and the Technology part of the course are introduced and covered. This is carried ahead into Semester 2 with base studies in Landscape Architecture History and basics of Quantity Estimation. The scale widens in Semester 3 with the introduction of the urban scale and the role of Planting in Design leading to an understanding of Ecological and Environmental Planning and Independent Research and study by way of Electives and seminars in Semester 4. Semester 5 Projects are on a regional scale leading to Semester 6 which is completely devoted to the Landscape Thesis.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES 

The Masters program looks at the overall development of the candidate as a technically proficient person with sensitivity towards environment and with a broader observing and understanding capacity towards architecture.

Students are equipped with the engineering skills of land modifications and preservations, these accepts are the ones that govern any construction activity. The analytical skills are developed through this course, so then the candidate works professionally, then a well thought and sensitive landscape solution can be worked out.

This also shows the candidates understand the environment / ecology and the acting components of the ecosystem. With new tools for mapping and evaluation techniques the candidate is equipped with skills to represent his/her thoughts. It also aims at moulding attitudes and principles which would be relevant to evolving a truly professional individual in tune with the challenging times we live in.
